Awesome hardware
"Fantastic router. I previously used the Netgear R7800 with OpenWrt because the original firmware lacked features. The Flint 4 has such a comprehensive system that installing anything else makes no sense. It's fast, very stable, and I've never once managed to get it hot enough to activate the built-in fan. It's a bit pricey, but it's definitely worth the price."

"There's soo much you can do with it, The range and speed at that range is soon much better than a standard broadband router they give you, also you can run everything through a VPN running on the router it's self. OpenWrt" the brand, not the experience
"Says OpenWrt, but it's a locked-down shell of it. No vanilla OpenWrt you have to build it yourself from community forks, and even then it's not stable or officially supported. Plus some components ship as compiled Lua bytecode, so good luck reading anything. Hardware side: 10G that doesn't work for normal people. One lonely RJ45 10G port, and the second is SFP+ only needs a hot, pricey module for any regular device. And you can't even test if that SFP+ slot functions, because testing costs more than the port's worth. Never know what you actually got. If you're a hobbyist wanting open, usable firmware with 10G that actually fits a home setup skip this one."

"Amazing router ! I am coming from an ax3600 + wrt3200acm with OP25. This router is a beast which do a great job. Setting vlan is easy, putting rules in the firewall also. Does not regret my purchase at all. Wifi cover is amazing"

The Flint 4: The Mature Router I've Been Waiting For
"After owning the Flint 2, Flint 3E, and Flint 3, all of which are excellent routers, I always felt that each one was missing something. With the Flint 4, however, I finally found the mature, complete router I had been waiting for. Everything I wanted from the previous models is finally here: 10G WAN? ✅ Yes! 2. 5G LAN? ✅ Yes! WiFi coverage that reaches every corner of the house? ✅ Absolutely! Enough processing power and memory to handle all the advanced features and functions? ✅ Definitely! GL. iNet has also added a nice extra: a touchscreen display. It's surprisingly useful for monitoring and managing key router functions without needing a PC or smartphone nearby. I directly compared the Flint 4 with the Flint 3 in terms of speed, features, and WiFi coverage, and the results were clear: the Flint 4 comes out on top in every category. Bottom line: the Flint 4 feels like the culmination of the entire Flint series. It's powerful, feature-rich, and finally delivers everything I was looking for in a router without compromises. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommended!"

Great router, well worth the wait.
"I needed a WiFi Router that worked with the Openreach ONT box on BT Internet (PPPoE), had IPv6, WiFi7, 2.4GHz/5GHz/6GHz, DDNS, Website filtering, a WireGuard VPN to enable me to connect home, and to run Open Source software. After a lot of research I found a Reddit Group discussing the Flint 4. This was exactly what I was after. The added bonus was the router being able to run AdGuardHome to filter both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic. This works very well. The setup out of the box was incredibly easy, and could have been completed using the colour touchscreen - this will also display QR codes to connect your phone to. There is also a phone App. To avoid changing all my device WiFi details, I set the SSID and password to what was on my old TPLink AX90. I also changed the 192.168.8.1 to 192.168.0.1. Everything just worked straight away. At some point I will set up the IoT network. My BT Internet connected, the IPv6 worked, DDNS worked, and then I found how to switch on the WireGuard DNS, set up a Tunnel on my phone using "WGTunnel", and then configure AdGuardHome. The odd thing is the way users have to wait until the router software is updated before AdGuardHome is updated. That needs addressing as I prefer everything on the router to stay up to date when regular updates are released. I don't want to use old versions of AdGuardHome for months. The range is very good, I was testing it earlier. The router is by the front door in a cupboard, but gives solid performance and coverage in the house with a 320MHz wide 6GHz channel. Even with multiple devices all streaming 4K video across 2.4/5/6GHz and using different sites, the router only runs warm, the fan doesn't come on. It's fairly fast compared to my old WiFi Router. I leave it to auto-select the WiFi channels, but would like to see a display of SSIDs and signal strengths of what the router can hear. I use foil to block the RF going outside and to concentrate it in the house and back garden. Some 80ft away I get -75dBm on my phone in the garden on 6GHz, -70dBm on 5GHz, and -65dBm on 2.4GHz. The other thing I wasn't expecting was to find Extended Settings behind a page I have to log in to after already logging in to the router. I would expect all the router settings to be shown within the router itself. Maybe this isn't how Open Source software works. So far I am pleased with the router and feel the need to move it from the cupboard to a table in the hall so people can see it and appreciate the colour screen. I do like the screen, if visitors want to connect I can show the QR code and it takes seconds. It can show various information. It was well worth the 2month wait for my pre-order. I bought the Flint4 in preference to the Unifi Dream Router 7. I don't need my two RaspberryPi now, so turned one with SSD in to a media store and shared drive for backups and can access this via the Flint4. The other is now for ADSB and connects to the Flint 4 via WiFi. A lot of the features and "enthusiast" settings I might not use, but know I can in the future if I need to. I would definitely recommend this router, it was easy to set up, seems to work with anything, has lots of great features, lots of LAN sockets, USB connectors, and strong coverage. The Support is also good, the team respond within hours. I feel the UK price of £330 might put people off, especially if their ISP throws in a very basic/limited Triband WiFi7 router, but saying that, it's far better than routers twice the price, and you can't trust your ISP supplied router. If you're thinking about it - just buy one!"

Great Wi-Fi 7 Router
"While this is still based on the same software as other GL. inet Flint routers (of which I own several), this has MUCH improved management for the LANs and ports, and much more visual way to manage the router as a whole. While there are still improvements that can be made, I think that this is the best, and latest demonstration of the commitment of GL. inet to making routers that are top of the line from both hardware, and software. I look forward to them continuing to innovate, especially on the software side, now that the hardware is this good. This router reaffirms why I have now standardized my installation of GL. inet."
