Un router pensato per chi ama avere il controllo della propria rete

"Un mese di utilizzo quotidiano posso dire che il Flint 2 è probabilmente uno dei migliori acquisti che abbia fatto per il mio homelab. Provengo da una rete domestica piuttosto articolata, con server Proxmox, TrueNAS, Home Assistant, Nextcloud, Jellyfin, VPN WireGuard e numerosi dispositivi IoT. Cercavo un router stabile, veloce e soprattutto che mi permettesse di avere il pieno controllo della rete senza dover acquistare apparati enterprise. Il Flint 2 ha superato le aspettative. La configurazione di base richiede pochi minuti ed è fattibile anche a chi non è un esperto di networking. Chi invece ama "mettere le mani sotto il cofano" troverà tutto ciò che serve: la base OpenWrt permette di andare ben oltre le normali funzionalità offerte dai router consumer, mantenendo però un'interfaccia GL. iNet semplice e piacevole da usare. Nel mio caso il router gestisce contemporaneamente: oltre 40 dispositivi di rete server Proxmox NAS TrueNAS Home Assistant numerosi dispositivi Wi-Fi connessioni VPN permanenti streaming video locale tutto senza il minimo rallentamento. La copertura Wi-Fi è ottima e copre quasi perfettamente un appartamento su due piani di 40 mq ciascuno. Il router è posizionato al piano inferiore, dove la copertura è ottimale. Al piano superiore attualmente funziona senza problemi, sebbene penso che valuterò l'installazione di un access point per avere le massime prestazioni. Mai un riavvio inatteso, mai un blocco, mai la necessità di "staccare e riattaccare la corrente", cosa purtroppo abbastanza comune con molti router consumer. La funzione che forse apprezzo di più è che lui fa da server WireGuard che assieme al dynamic DNS tramite API Cloudflare, mi consente di accedere in VPN e in modo sicuro alla rete di casa. Da quando utilizzo il Flint 2: accedo al mio Proxmox gestisco Home Assistant utilizzo Nextcloud raggiungo il NAS controllo tutti i servizi interni esattamente come se fossi collegato in casa. Le prestazioni della VPN sono eccellenti e la connessione è sempre risultata stabile. Il router è in grado di gestire throughput WireGuard molto elevati grazie all'accelerazione hardware. L'hardware è decisamente migliore rispetto ai classici router domestici. Le due porte da 2. 5 Gigabit sono una scelta intelligente e permettono di sfruttare appieno connessioni in fibra moderne oppure collegare NAS e server senza creare colli di bottiglia. Anche la presenza della porta USB 3. 0 è molto utile per chi desidera condividere storage o effettuare backup rapidi. Questo router rappresenta un perfetto equilibrio tra semplicità e funzionalità. Ci si può limitarsi all'interfaccia GL. iNet per le funzioni di base. Chi invece desidera qualcosa in più può utilizzare LuCI/OpenWrt e avere praticamente il controllo completo con funzionalità di networking davvero avanzate e complete. VLAN, DNS personalizzati, policy routing, Multi-WAN, failover, plugin, firewall avanzato. . . c'è davvero tutto quello che serve ad un utente evoluto. Se proprio devo trovare qualche difetto: mi sarebbe piaciuto vedere il supporto al Wi-Fi 6E o Wi-Fi 7, anche se oggi il Wi-Fi 6 è ancora più che sufficiente per la maggior parte degli utenti; il consumo in standby non è bassissimo: nel mio impianto misura circa 5 W continui. Non è un valore elevato in assoluto, ma per chi presta molta attenzione ai consumi energetici è un aspetto da considerare; alcune funzioni avanzate di OpenWrt richiedono comunque una certa esperienza. Sono però dettagli che non incidono minimamente sull'esperienza complessiva. Lo ricomprerei ? ASSOLUTAMENTE SI !!"

Great Router / GL. inet MT6000 Slate 2

"Great Router, easy to set up with the minimum of fuss and easy to update the firmware. This is my second GL. inet product, I bought this one because the first was a complete success. I have one negatives but not deducting stars because other manufacturers are the same. . 1. The postage was a little slow, not too bad but could improve. I also have a feature reauest too. Could the team make it possible to sellect a Secure DNS Provider for dns queries, and also allow us to use Adguardhome to filter out the trash, adguardhome does such a good job, but currently peope have to use their DNS servers for this to work. Just a button to make this happen would provide a service that will bring a lot more users who are not technically minded enough to use Luci. Either way, no other router offers what this one already does, filtering of trash and tracking without paying a yearly fee to do so. It also has Two fast 2. 5GB ports along with Four 1GB ports, enough for any home setup, or office where a switch would be attached. Keep up the good work GL. inet, don't follow the other manufacturers who are pushing rubbish that only lives up to marketing expectations yet completely fails to do what is required."
