- The PC had three hard drives.
- Windows lived on Disk 2; boot files were on Disk 0.
- After the power event, BIOS reset the boot order to the default 0,1,2.
- This system required 0,2,1 to boot properly.
After a few retries and reboots, they restored the correct disk order and the PC sprang back to life.
