GL.iNet Celebrates 15 Years of Open Innovation

Virginia, USA [October 10, 2025] GL.iNet, a company specializing in OpenWrt-based and privacy-focused networking solutions, hosted the Open Innovation Conference in celebration of its 15th anniversary. The event brought together key partners, valued content creators, and loyal community members to reflect on over a decade of innovation and to unveil the company’s vision for a smart ecosystem built with accessible and secure networking, remote KVM and smart IoT devices.

The conference served as a testament to GL.iNet’s philosophy: collaboration and open dialogue are the primary drivers of technological progress. The agenda featured keynotes from GL.iNet’s leadership and strategic partners, exclusive product showcases, and awards to thank content creators and community members.

15 Years of Innovation

“15 years is not a short journey”, said Mason Zhao, co-founder and CEO of GL.iNet. “We were able to transform from a small idea to a global community thanks to the support of our partners, fans and the team”.

Alfie Zhao, co-founder, CTO, and COO of GL.iNet also shared the growth and innovation of this 15 year journey. “GL’s mission was clear from the beginning, to create something that makes life better. Not just our life, but the user’s. Our users have always been constructive and supportive. We evolved many of our products by listening closely to their feedback.”

The highlight of the event, a forward-looking product showcase, offered attendees a glimpse into GL.iNet's pipeline of upcoming routers, remote KVMs, security gateway and human presence sensor, designed to provide users with even greater control, security, and performance. Following the product roadmap reveal, GL.iNet Product Design and Marketing Director, Shanshan Deng presented an in-depth look at GL.iNet's product design ethos.

Celebrating the Power of Community

GL.iNet presented the Brand Impact Awards to content creators including Linus Media Group and Dave Plummer from Dave’s Garage, recognizing their role in introducing GL.iNet to millions of users around the world.

“A very cool story of two brothers who built a cool company”, said Plummer after attending the event. As a former Microsoft engineer, Plummer provided in-depth technical reviews of GL.iNet products.

The conference also celebrated the power of community with Brand Ambassador appointments, welcoming NAS Compares, CrossTalk Solutions and RaidOwl to this distinguished role. These trusted technical voices have been instrumental in bridging GL.iNet’s innovations with the global community through their expert reviews.

The event concluded with GL.iNet presenting the Community Guardian Award to Traver Yates aka Wicked Yoda, a long-time community moderator and active beta tester who contributed to building and supporting users.
